The 2002 Edgewood Football team had a very successful season. The team started out with a huge win over Indian Hill in the Crosstown Showdown 20-13. Throughout the season the Cougars gained over 3,000 yards on the ground behind the Wing-T offense. The Cougar defense was the best in Southwest Ohio by holding their opponents to 10 points per game. The Cougars were led into the playoffs by Quarterback Cory Smith, Running backs Evan Sparks, Josh Glancy, Mike McSorley, and the tremendous hands of Josh Braun. The line was led by Ryan Breedlove, Jon Hazelwood, Ryan Oliver, Brad Davidson, Tom Anglin, and Kyle Turner.
The Defense was led by linebackers Andy Puckett and Clarke Cripe and the play of the Defensive line consisting of Bobby Baker, Steve Eliason, Jon Hazelwood, Josh Glancy and Derek Melton. To keep the ball out of the air the Defensive backs were Cory Smith, Mike McSorley, Evan Sparks, and Ryan Williams.
